At Old Colony Habitat for Humanity, we believe in the power of community and compassion. Our mission to build homes and hope for families in Bristol and Norfolk County drives everything we do. One of the key components of our organization is our Old Colony Habitat ReStore located at 9 Washington Street (Route 1A) in Attleboro, MA – a stone’s throw away from the Emerald Square Mall and neighboring Rhode Island. This unique store not only offers a wide array of items for sale but also plays a crucial role in supporting our affordable housing mission.
The Old Colony Habitat ReStore is more than just a thrift store; it is a hub of generosity and support for local families in need. By donating to our ReStore, individuals and organizations can make a direct impact on the lives of those seeking affordable housing in our community. Every donation, big or small, helps us further our mission and brings us one step closer to providing safe and stable homes for families in need.
Have you been redecorating your home, preparing to downsize or move, or helping to clean out a home? If so, please consider donating to Old Colony Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore. You can drop off at your convenience during regular business hours or we have a truck and can work with you to arrange pick-up of larger items and furniture for a reasonable fee.
Wondering what items you can donate to our ReStore? The list is extensive, and we welcome a variety of items in good and working condition. Here are some of the top donations that can make a difference:
1. Furniture: From sofas and tables to dressers and chairs, your gently used furniture can find a new home and the proceeds directly impact our mission for affordable housing.
2. Appliances: Working appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, washers, and dryers are always in demand. Your donations keep our store stocked with new inventory for our shoppers. Our shoppers always enjoy buying an appliance for a fraction of the price for a new one.
3. Building Materials: Do you have excess construction materials, tools, or hardware? You or your contractor can donate these items to our ReStore which helps us fulfill our commitment to the environment and sustainability by keeping materials out of our landfills.
4. Home Decor: Holiday décor, light fixtures, decorations, centerpieces, dishes, knick-knacks, lamps, and other home decor items are very popular. Our customers love to personalize and update their living spaces without breaking the bank!
Due to sanitary or disposal issues, there are certain items that we are unable to accept: mattresses, damaged, ripped, or soiled upholstered furniture, electronics, broken appliances, clothing or linens, shoes or accessories, paint, dishwashers, and faucets. Some local non-profit organizations may accept some of these items. Please review requirements on their website:
- Goodwill Industries International, Inc. – Goodwill Industries International
- The Salvation Army USA
- For disposal of mattresses, non-working appliances and other items, please review the recommendations of your local solid waste department.
By donating to Old Colony Habitat ReStore, you are not only giving your items a second life but also contributing to a brighter future for families in our community. Your support helps us continue our work of building homes and hope for those in need.
