Old Colony Habitat for Humanity ReStore to Close as Lease Ends, But Our Mission to Build Affordable Homes Remains Strong

Attleboro-Old Colony Habitat for Humanity, Inc. has announced that its ReStore will close its doors as of June 14, 2025. The ReStore’s lease is reaching its end. Old Colony Habitat for Humanity will take this opportunity to realign resources within the organization’s core mission of providing safe, affordable housing. The store will continue accepting donations through May 1st, to support final sales before closure.

“For years, the ReStore has played a role in supporting our mission, but unfortunately, it has not been a sustainable source of revenue for our organization,” said Kimberly Thomas, CEO of Old Colony Habitat for Humanity. “As our lease comes to an end, we recognize that our resources are better directed toward our core mission—building affordable homes for families in need.”

The Board’s decision to close the ReStore was made after much thoughtful consideration of how to best serve families in need of affordable housing. By reallocating resources and energy directly toward home construction, Old Colony Habitat for Humanity will be able to increase its impact, ensuring that more local families achieve the dream of homeownership.

“The ReStore has been a labor of love, made possible by the hard work of our staff and the generosity of our community,” said Brenda McDonough, president of the Board of Directors. “We are incredibly thankful for everyone who has been part of this journey and look forward to continuing our work together in new ways.”

“Old Colony Habitat for Humanity is grateful to the dedicated staff, volunteers, donors, and customers who have supported the ReStore over the years. Their contributions have played a vital role in furthering Habitat’s mission and making a lasting impact on families in need of safe, affordable housing”, Thomas said.

The ReStore will continue to accept saleable items at the store through May 1st during drop off hours and encourages supporters to take advantage of this final opportunity to contribute. Donations of gently used furniture, appliances, home goods, and building materials will help support Habitat’s mission in its final months of operation.
