About This Project

762 Washington Street, Franklin, MA

Our 2025 project is a truly special one: the transformation of a historic community landmark into a modern, affordable home. Located at 762 Washington Street in Franklin, MA, the former South Franklin Congregational Meeting House—also known as “Old South”—was built in 1856. This classic white church, distinguished by its imposing Doric columns, has stood as a symbol of the community for over 150 years. The property includes 0.655 acres of land and 2,128 square feet of interior space. Though the church was deeded to the Town of Franklin by the First Congregational Church in 1972, it has remained vacant since 2007. In partnership with the town, Old Colony Habitat for Humanity acquired the property through a formal RFP process. We are now in the process of converting this beautiful and historically significant structure into an affordable, energy-efficient home featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms across two floors. This project preserves the character of the building while giving it new life as a safe and welcoming residence for a local family in need. We anticipate welcoming the new homeowners in June 2026.

Old Colony Habitat for Humanity Welcomes the Marmol Family as Future Homeowners in FranklinOld Colony Habitat for Humanity is thrilled to announce that the Marmol Family has been selected as the future homeowners of our current build at 762 Washington Street in Franklin.

Sally Marmol, a proud mother to Amelia (13), Evani (12), and Jonathon (10), grew up in Fall River and now works right here in Franklin. For Sally, owning a home represents much more than a roof over their heads — it means stability, security, and the opportunity to build a brighter future.
